Tremors from the strong earthquake that rocked Turkey and neighbouring Syria on Monday had been felt as significantly absent as Greenland, the Geological Study of Denmark and Greenland explained.

“The massive earthquakes in Turkey had been plainly registered on the seismographs in Denmark and Greenland,” seismologist Tine Larsen informed AFP.
The very first 7.8-magnitude quake struck at 04:seventeen am (0117 GMT) at a depth of about seventeen.9 kilometres (eleven miles) around the Turkish town of Gaziantep, which is household to close to two million persons, the US Geological Study explained.
“The waves from the earthquake achieved the seismograph on the Danish island of Bornholm about 5 minutes following the shaking commenced,” Larsen explained.
“8 minutes following the earthquake, the shaking achieved the east coastline of Greenland, propagating even further by all of Greenland,” she extra.

Afterwards, one more 7.5-magnitude quake struck southeastern Turkey.
“We have registered equally earthquakes — and a whole lot of aftershocks — in Denmark and Greenland,” she explained.
Monday’s quake is the deadliest in Turkey because a 7.4-magnitude a single in 1999 when far more than seventeen,000 persons died, like about 1,000 in Istanbul.
